Diana Uribe is VERY EXCITED!!!!

Summer in L.A is a few weeks away and I am very excited to meet and work with you all.

I created this blog to keep everyone up to date on what's happening but we have been so busy we have not had the time to write often.

If you are one of the Summer in LA dancers, you do receive updates through our newsletters.

Alex and I just got back from a successful L.A trip where we finalized all for S.I.L.A.

The Hilton Universal Studios hotel seems like such a magical place as you enter its grand entrance where you know you've arrived at the entertainment capitol of the world. We can't wait for you all to experience this.

The weather was unbelievably hot with temperatures in the 105's/45's. You felt like if you were in the desert.

All the choreographers are eager to work with you as are all the studios where we will train at.

The photo shoots with Lee Cherry are confirmed and Carmit, ex Pussy Cat Doll will be in attendance.

The taping of So You Think You Can Dance is also on and we can't wait to hear who the guest star will be on the show we are on.

The Dance Intensive dancers will be seen by LA's top agents: 7 are confirmed so far.

The Hip Hop Intensive dancers will be staying at the Planet Hollywood resort for 1 night during the Hip Hop Championships. You've seen the resort on the new season of SYTYCD.

I have to go to finish up some work on the SILA program and also on our Bahamas Sun, Fun & Dance experience that starts in less than 1 week. www.atlantis.com This is where we will be dancing and staying at. Maybe you can join us here next year.

The SILA blog will be updated often before and during SILA so check back often and sign up to receive our blogs.

See you in L.A.

Diana

Summer in L.A. 2004 - 2007 Highlights

Summer in L.A has evolved and grown so much in just 4 years. We can't wait for the upcoming 5th Anniversary program that will be even better than ever.

Here are just a few of the highlights of the 2004 - 2007 Summer in L.A.

For full updates on past experiences including photos and testimonials, be sure to check out the Past Programs page online at http://www.summerinla.com/

2004

Summer in L.A. dancers trained with Brian Friedman, Shane Sparks, Super Dave and Jayson Wright, to just name a few.

The dancers met Grammy award winner Mya, her choreographer Sho-tyme, her dancers and sat in on her private concert rehearsal. The group was invited to attend this closed to spectators rehearsal by Sho-Tyme. Sho-Tyme is Mya's choreographer and his other credits include Gwen Stefanie, Black Eyed Peas, Fast and the Furious and much more.

Be Discovered had workshops in Ontario with Sho-Tyme including in Toronto, Scarborough, St. Catharines and Sudbury. http://www.bediscovered.net/

Dancers attended Christina Aguilera auditions and experienced the casting process and saw the tough, cut throat industry that the dance and entertainment industry really is. They also had mock auditions and industry chats with professional dancer Shirleen Quigley who has toured the world with Missy Elliott and Beyonce.

2005

Dancers took classes with Marty Kudelka, Maryss and Rino, Tovaris Wilson and worked privately with Shane Sparks and Mihran. Dancers also worked with Tony award winner and Answers4dancers Grover Dale. Both Shane Sparks and Mihran held mock auditions and gave the dancers assessments on their audition.

Dancers saw Outkast and Omarion rehearsing at one of the studios, Millenium, considered L.A's studio to the stars.

Some of the dancers worked on the feature film Walk the Talk that has been on the film festival circuit. http://www.walkthetalkfilm.com/

Outings included: a professionally guided tour of Hollywood, shopping on Melrose, Beverly Hills, the Sunset strip, Venice beach, the Santa Monica Pier, Malibu and the Griffith Park Observatory; bowling night with Shane Sparks and music producer Bobby Jones; attending L.A.'s hottest dance show, Carnival Choreographer's Ball where over 200 of LA's top dancers showcased the works of top choreographers; watching the best crews battle at the finals of the World Hip Hop Championship and much more...

2006

Dancers trained with Tony Testa, Mickey Minden, Shane Sparks, Misha Gabriel, Nick Bass, Kennis, Chopper and Mike & Jr, to just name some. Private workshops were taught by the Groovaloos Bradley "Shooz" and Keeley "LocknKey" as well as Shane Sparks and Lil' Tommy.

Dancers were photographed by Lee Cherry, photographer to Brian Friedman, the Pussy Cat Dolls and Jenna Dewan (Step Up). You can see the dancers photos at www.leecherry.com/bediscovered

One of the favorite outings of Summer in LA is the dancers being a part of the live studio audience of the #1 hit show So You Think You Can Dance. The dancers saw one of the dancers get eliminated and saw a live performance by Busta Rhymes. http://www.fox.com/dance/

Other outings that were a hit include the professionally guided sightseeing tour, the Groovaloos "Groove Nite", the world Hip Hop Championship and the meeting with the U.S immigration attorney.

The next day she auditioned for Chris Stokes and Marques Houston. Chris Stokes discovered Brandy, Marques Houston and B2K as well as directed countless music videos and films including the #1 hit dance film You Got Served.

The Summer in LA dancers showcased for all top 4 L.A. dance/choreography agencies. Kyle Vicente received agency call backs for all 4 and 9 other dancers also received call backs.

Dancers hung out in a VIP area, ate some treats including giant cotton candy. The limo continued on a tour of Hollywood and the Sunset Strip, stopping for a tour of the hotel The Standard, another exclusive L.A hot spot where the dancers saw Omar Epps.
